Mercer Island Pediatrics has been named by Premera Blue Cross as a recipient of its 2010 Healthcare Quality Award. The Island clinic was one of 32 recipients chosen for the award by the insurance giant. The Quality Awards honor Washington medical practices for promoting health care quality and representing best practices in the delivery of high-quality care to patients.

The awards program was developed to recognize high-quality care provided by physicians in any clinic setting, from single doctor offices to larger clinics. Using Premera’s Quality Score Card (www.premera.com/qsc) measures, Premera created a methodology that allows performance to be measured in the areas of adult, pediatric and women’s health care.

A quarter of the clinics honored were King County Eastside clinics and doctors.
