Liberty Dialysis sells for $1.7 billion

Mercer Island-based Liberty Dialysis has been sold for $1.7 billion.

According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the company Liberty Dialysis Holdings Inc. of Mercer Island will be acquired by Fresenius Medical Care AG of Germany.

Bloomberg reports Liberty Dialysis has 260 clinics with annual revenue of about $1 billion. The deal is expected to close early next year.

Last year, Liberty Dialysis merged with Renal Advantage Inc. to become the third largest provider of dialysis services in the U.S.
