True Value continues to maintain its decades-old presence on Mercer Island in its new location next to Walgreens.

“Now that we’re here in the center of town, we get a lot of walk-ins and people who come to Walgreens,” said Tom Valentine, a new store manager. “Everybody on the Island has been very patient and kind, and they’re glad to see that we’re still here.”

The Island's only hardware store was required to move out of the 76th Avenue building by the end of July, but the building's demolition has been delayed until sometime next week.

While the store no longer offers tool rentals, carpet cleaners and pressure washers continue to be available. The store still has some outdoor space for supplies and a section of the parking lot has been marked off for potting soil and other landscaping items. For customers who prefer to make an online purchase, staff can help them navigate the website.

And, yes, shoppers can still get a bag of popcorn from the iconic popcorn machine.

True Value is located at 7707 S.E. 27th Street, Suite 110. For more, go to http://ww3.truevalue.com/mercerisland/.
