Kirkland Massage Envy to offer free massages to those living with arthritis Sept. 18

Massage Envy Spa and the Arthritis Foundation have joined forces to host the third annual Healing Hands for Arthritis, a one-day national event to build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis.

On Sept. 18, Massage Envy’s 24 Washington state clinics and spas will donate $10 from every one-hour massage session or facial to the Arthritis Foundation.

In addition, the Northgate, Kirkland and Shoreline locations will offer those living with arthritis a free one-hour massage session, generously donated by Massage Envy members. Over the past two years, this one-day nationwide event has raised more than $1 million for the Arthritis Foundation, with Massage Envy in Washington state donating more than $30,000.

“There’s no better way to give back than to treat yourself, a friend or family member to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage or facial,” said Barney Nelson, regional developer for Massage Envy in Washington state. “We strongly encourage Washingtonians to come out on Sept. 18 to help fight arthritis, a disease that is America’s leading cause of disability, affecting one in every four Washington residents, and 50 million Americans.”

Massage Envy is now accepting appointments for the Healing Hands for Arthritis event. To make an appointment, contact a local Massage Envy by visiting the Massage Envy website (www.massageenvy.com/regions/WA/Seattle.aspx). Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All proceeds donated during Healing Hands for Arthritis will support the Arthritis Foundation’s nationwide efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis. In addition, Murad, Massage Envy Spa’s exclusive skin care partner, Wyndmere and BioFreeze will each donate 10 percent of all sales from their products sold at Massage Envy Spa locations during the event to the Arthritis Foundation.

Massage Envy Spa and the Arthritis Foundation share a common understanding about the devastating effects of arthritis on the body and the potential for massage therapy to relieve and control certain symptoms. Massage therapy can play an important role in alleviating the pain and swelling caused by arthritis, improving flexibility and circulation and reducing stress and anxiety.

“We are excited to partner with Massage Envy Spa to bring attention to arthritis. Healing Hands for Arthritis will provide support for arthritis education, research, advocacy and other vital programs and services,” said Rick Bell, managing director of cause development for the Arthritis Foundation.

In addition to hosting Healing Hands for Arthritis, Massage Envy Spa is a national sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s signature event, Arthritis Walk. Massage Envy owners from across the country have been and continue to have a presence at their local Arthritis Walk events to share information about the benefits of massage therapy, provide chair massages and support the Arthritis Foundation’s mission.
