The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife recently announced that Lake Washington will be closed for salmon fishing through Oct. 31, and Lake Sammamish will be off-limits for salmon fishing from Oct. 2 though Nov. 30 of this year. The closure is attributed to a low coho salmon run and hatcheries’ inability to collect enough fish to meet “egg-take” goals. However, if the run increases in a few weeks, the lakes will be re-opened. Call District Biologist Aaron Bosworth at (425) 775-1311, extension 102, for more information.
