The Mercer Island Thrift Shop (MITS) is having a first-of-its-kind used book sale on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. MITS has partnered with the local faith community to collect quality used books for the sale.

Lacking sufficient display space at MITS for the event, the Church of Latter Day Saints is donating space for the sale at their facility located at 4001 Island Crest Way.

Books of all kinds will be on sale including rare books, comics, children’s titles, collectible books, fiction, non-fiction, design books and much more.

Proceeds from the event go to MITS, which in turn directly supports services provided to Islanders by Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (YFS). A department of the City of Mercer Island, YFS provides senior services, counselors in the schools, youth development (V.O.I.C.E.), the food pantry, affordable family counseling, drug and alcohol prevention, many other human services to Island residents.

For additional information, contact MITS Coordinator Suzanne Philen at suzanne.philen@mercergov.org or visit www.miyfs.org/booksale.
