Beginning May 25 and ending June 7, King County Housing Authority will accept applications for its Housing Choice Voucher Program (known to most as the section eight rental assistance program) waiting list. Applications will be available at various locations around the county or can be submitted online at www.kcha.org.

This application period offers the opportunity to be placed on the waiting list; it doesn’t guarantee a spot on the list.

Applicants who apply early are not favored over those who apply later. There is no advantage to submitting an application on the first day. Due to limited resources, only 2,500 names will ultimately make the list. The selected names will be determined by a random lottery, not by the date the application was made.

“We don’t have the resources to help as many people that will apply,” said Rhonda Rosenberg, director of communications for King County Housing Authority.
