Mercer Island High School radio students earn big awards

Mercer Island High School students participating in the MIHS radio program recently brought home big awards from the Washington State High School Radio Awards competition.

Islanders placed in top spots in seven of the 10 categories. Teddy Trimble was second in the public service announcement category, while Nikhil Misra and Will Taylor were third in the same group. Colleen Grasher and Eben Diederich were second in the PSA series category, while Grasher brought home third place in radio imaging. James Gendreau was third for a new feature, while Brynne Henry took second in underwriting. Garrett Tacorante took third in individual newscast and Matt Sexton was third for sports broadcasting.

The program at MIHS continues to grow, as this year there were double the number of entires as last year and four times as many as in 2009.
