Community calendar | Art Walk is Thursday

The North end Third Thursday Art Walk is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on June 16. The event not only features Mercer Island businesses sponsoring art at their sites, but also a concert by Stephanie Porter and her band. Porter is the former business manager of the 77 Central Apartments. The band will be performing from 7 to 8 p.m. in front of the U.S. Bank, weather permitting.

Summer Celebration Fireworks Cruise: 7:30-11 p.m., July 9. Passengers will board the historic Virginia V at Luther Burbank Park, where they will return. Ride features desserts, no-host bar. Training for Reading Buddies: 2 p.m., June 20. Training for Reading Buddies is a mandatory orientation for teens volunteering to read with children this summer. Completed application is required.

Teen Advisory Board: 7 p.m., June 21. Voice your opinions on teen materials, services and programs while earning one volunteer credit hour and munching on light refreshments.
