Boy Scout Viraj Parikh, right, and his father, Jay, help clean up the area around the old recycling center on the edge of Mercerdale Park in 80 degree heat on Sunday.

They were part of a team of 25 that came to clean up the building and grounds so that the thrift store can use the facility for storage. The project was organized by Eric Hardwick of Troop 624, of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church, for his Eagle Scout project.
