Rotary Islanders of November

Mercer Island Rotary has announced Mercer Island High School students Michael Choi and Andrea Lin as the Islanders of November.

Choi, the 2011 homecoming king, is the senior class vice president. He is also the Interact Club president, NHS treasurer, MIHS band section leader (tenor and baritone saxophone), Band Student Advisory Board vice president and Relay for Life committee member and team captain. He volunteers at the Union Gospel Mission and Keiro Nursing Home.

The son of Jae and Young Choi, he plans to attend college at Georgetown or the University of Pennsylvania.

Lin is the National Honor Society vice president at MIHS, where she is also a captain of debate, Math Club officer, and Senior Service Club co-vice president. Lin volunteers for EducAid Tutoring, which supports a girls’ school in Kenya through World Vision. Lin is also a VOICE volunteer.

Hobbies in Lin’s spare time include tennis and piano. She has won awards for her performances in the Russian Music Festival, Seattle Young Artists Musical Festival and Washington State Music Teachers Association Adjudication.

The daughter of Jyh-Han Lin and Lian Tsai, she intends to study business in college.

Both Choi and Lin are BRIDGES leaders.
