Rotary Islanders of January

Students Kristina Chang and Joey Rudee have been named the Rotary Islanders of the month for January.

Chang is an “Islander Girls” school spirit leader at Mercer Island High School, where she is a varsity tennis player and member of the varsity chess club, Senior Service Club and Invisible Children. In the community she is an activities volunteer at Covenant Shores and tennis instructor at the Opportunities in Life tennis camp. The daughter of Michael and Fei Chang, she also volunteers at the Bellevue Arts Museum. Her hobbies include painting and drawing, and she plans to pursue a career in neurological research.

Rudee is the business manager of the ASB and The Islander student newspaper at MIHS. A member of the Senior Service Club and National Honor Society, he is also a natural helper and Bridges leader who participates in the MIHS leadership class. In the community he has won the Principal’s Leadership Award at the Hebrew High School of Jewish Studies. He is also involved in the Safe Rides program and the Green Team. The son of Ken and Stacey Rudee, he plans to attend a four-year university for a degree in business.
