Mercer Island High School students and residents helped raise over $100,000 during May's annual Relay for Life event.
The event, held at Mercer Island High School, raised $108,000 for the American Cancer Society.
This year's event was co-chaired by Justen Altaras, Kathryn Hendricks, team development chair Alex Straughan and Katie Merritt (ACS partner) along with many other MIHS students.
It was also the largest event in recent history, with 515 participants and 54 teams.
Relay for Life is an event which helps communities celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember lost loved ones and to fight against the disease.
“What an exemplary show of leadership by our amazing students. I am very proud of all of them for their hard work and commitment,” said MISD Superintendent Gary Plano.
