MIVAL winners are announced | Scholarship news

Three Mercer Island High School students have each received a scholarship for $500 from the Mercer Island Visual Arts League. They include:

Lili’uolani Pickford

Pickford explains that her artwork is a reflection of the growing woman’s experience. Pickford will attend Bellevue College after high school.

Mina So

For So, drawings of people are not just pictures or interpretations, but they are characters with distinct personalities. So is headed to the Tisch School of Arts, at New York University, to pursue film and television studies.

Hsing-Yu Cindy Wang

Studying psychology began to influence her art as she utilized imagery from her dreams. Wang will study fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.

Examples of their art is on view at the MIVAL Gallery and at MICEC through May.
