Three from Mercer Island earn National Merit scholarships

Three students from Mercer Island earned National Merit scholarships this year, including two from Mercer Island High School and one from Lakeside School.

Jolie Shen, who attends MIHS, plans to study business at Northwestern University in Illinois.

Kelsey Skordal, another MIHS senior, is undecided on her field of study, but will attend Colorado College, a liberal arts college in Colorado Springs.

Madeleine Weinstein, a senior at Lakeside School in Seattle, plans to study mathematics at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif.
