Mercer Island’s annual festival, Summer Celebration, is in need of volunteers for this year’s event. The 2012 event, Spirit of the Olympics, takes place July 14-15.

This year, Summer Celebration is focusing on sustainability, and is recruiting at least 50 Green Gurus, or sustainability volunteers, to help supervise the compost, gardening and recycling stations.

Shift for volunteers are available Saturday, July 14 for both day and evening times, as well as on Sunday, July 15 for the day shifts.

To learn more contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 275-7609 or email miparks@mercergov.org. To sign up to volunteer, complete the online volunteer form.
