Arts Council to host first juried art show
This fall the Mercer Island Arts Council will be hosting its first ever juried art exhibit.
The exhibit will run from Sept. 10 through Oct. 26 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center Art Gallery.
Artists who are interested in submitting work for the show must do so by Aug. 10. There is a $25 entry fee for up to three pieces. Artists using all mediums are encouraged to apply to be a part of the show. Artwork should be from 2008 to 2012. First place will earn $300; second, $200; and third, $100.
The show’s juror is Paula Stokes, the exhibition and scholarship programs manager at Pratt Fine Arts Center. She is also the manager of the Pratt Gallery at the Tashiro Kaplan Arts Complex in Seattle.
Entry forms are available online at www.mercergov.org/gallery. Artworks to be considered should be submitted via jpeg on a CD.
All art selected for the show must be for sale. The Community and Event Center takes a 25 percent commission on art sold. To apply, complete the entry form and mail it to the address on the form, along with the CD and registration fee.
