Mercer Island Thrift Shop is Halloween headquarters

October 15, 2012 · 1:14 PM

It’s officially the holiday season as Halloween approaches and fall leaves dot the landscape.

The recession? It doesn’t seem to matter, as the National Retail Federation predicts that a record 170 million Americans will spend close to $8 billion this year on the candy and costume fest, buying decorations, costumes for their kids and pets, candy and all the other accoutrements necessary for what was once called All Hallow’s Eve.

Customers who recycle last year’s costume and spend at least $30 or more at the Mercer Island Thrift Shop will get a $10 coupon. Coupons are available from donation customer service attendants when donating a complete costume.

The thrift store is accepting donations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and the store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
