Mercer Island seeks volunteers to serve on Arts Council, Senior Advisory Board

The Mercer Island City Council is looking for applicants to fill vacancies on the Arts Council and Senior Advisory Board.

Three spots are open on the Senior Advisory Board, while two seats are open on the Arts Council.

The Arts Council advises the City Council on matters related to art and organizes several events throughout the year. The 11 members meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. One of the two terms expires on May 31, 2013 while the other expires on May 31, 2014.

The Senior Advisory Board advises Youth and Family services and the Parks & Recreation Department on programs and services for seniors ages 65 and older. Meetings are held at least quarterly. The monthly commitment for board members is approximately one to two hours a month, with more available. The term for two positions expires May 31, 2013 and the third expires May 31, 2014.

Applicants for either board must be legal residents of Mercer Island and those applying for the Senior board need to be at least 65.
