Rotary Islanders of March

Mercer Island High School students Kathryn Hendricks and Szu-Raj Kothari were named the Rotary Islanders of March at the Rotary Club luncheon on March 5.
Hendricks, a National Honors Society member, is the president of the Schools Against Cancer Club at MIHS, where she is also the chief financial officer for Mercer Trade Inc. and a Running Start participant. She volunteers with Young Life student leadership Youth Task Force and Relay for Life, and owns KayGee Photography. The daughter of John and Denise Hendricks, she plans to attend Chapman University in Orange, California.
Kothari is the National Honors Society president at MIHS, where he is also a member of the Mock Trial Team. As a rower for the Mt. Baker Rowing Club men's varsity team, he has achieved second place in the Northwest Region 8+ Boat. He has also been a member of the MIHS swim team. For his Eagle Scout project, he organized a men's clothing drive on the Island for the Seattle Union Gospel Mission, obtaining more than 1,100 winter clothing items. He has volunteered around the grounds of the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church. In college he plans to major in biology with a concentration in neuroscience.
