Mercer Island School District earns Green Ribbon award from US Department of Education

The Mercer Island School District has been named a Green Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education.

The award, the Washington State Green Leader District, is part of the U.S. Department of Education's Green Ribbon Schools program, a nationwide effort to celebrate schools and district making strides in sustainability.

The program honors districts and schools which have reduced environmental impacts and costs, as well as improving health and wellness of the students and staff while also providing environmental and sustainability education.

The state award ceremony will take place on June 27 at the McKinstry Innovation Center in Seattle.
