Sponsors needed for upcoming revised Mercer Island History book

The Mercer Island Historical Society is completing a new version of its history book, “Mercer Island History, from Haunted Wilderness to Coveted Community,” first published in 1977 and revised in 1989.

An editorial committee, led by former Mercer Island Reporter editor Jane Meyer Brahm, has been working on the all-new book, filled with hundreds of new photos, maps and illustrations, many of them in color.

The book will be a unique chronicle of our island community from its beginnings to present day. It will be available exclusively at Island Books in time for holiday giving.

To help pay for the production of the book, the Mercer Island Historical Society is seeking donations. Island residents past and present, businesses, community organizations or anyone else who would like to support the new book are invited to join in as sponsors.

Donations are tax-deductible and any amount is welcome. All $50-or-more donors will be listed in the book as sponsors.

Donors of $500 or more will also receive a complimentary copy of the book. If you wish to be listed as a sponsor, your donation must be received by June 10.

Proceeds from the book sales will benefit the Mercer Island Historical Society for archiving historical data and personal memoirs and enhancing its website.

Send your donation to the Mercer Island Historical Society, PO Box 111, Mercer Island, 98040. Include your name as you would like it to appear in the book.
