Mercer Island Farmers Market update
The 2014 Mercer Island Farmers Market (MIFM) is thriving, thanks in part to support from Aljoya, the Mercer Island Community Fund, Mercer Island Women’s Club, Bennett’s, and Mindy’s Personal Fitness Training 50+. Sponsors provide critical foundational support, allowing MIFM to help cover operational expenses, provide music and children’s activities and employ a part-time market manager.
Every Sunday from June through September, around 2200 people visit the Market, purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs, cheese, wine, pastries (including gluten-free) as well as prepared foods. Musical entertainment provides a lively backdrop as people shop, meet the farmers and connect with friends. Activities for children, a food tasting booth, and even a dog-sitting service can be found at the Market, as well.
MIFM is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, with an all-volunteer board. The board is continually seeking ways to enhance the MIFM experience for all, from the very young to our seniors.
There are 15 weeks left to purchase an ever-changing variety of produce and so much more. Hours are Sundays, 10 a.m, to 3 p.m.
