Cellar 46

owner honored

The owner of Mercer Island’s Cellar 46, Ryan Allison, has been named to the Puget Sound Business Journal’s ‘40 Under 40,’ a program that honors local business leaders under age 40.

“It was a fun honor to receive for such a new business,” said Allison. “Our unique business model — restaurant and wine shop together — was the reason we won the award, and also for having created such a splash in the market, being a brand new business and being on Mercer Island. They’re excited that something new is happening on Mercer Island with all the change and development.”

Cellar 46, a wine bar and restaurant, opened just over a year ago in The Mercer retail area downtown.

Allison and Cellar 46 will be featured in the Sept. 12 issue of the Puget Sound Business Journal with the other winners, chosen for “career accomplishments, work ethic and social responsibility.” The 10th annual 40 Under 40 Honoree Bash, an awards event, will be held in September at the Seattle Repertory Theatre, sponsored by U.S. Bank and the World Trade Center of Seattle.

‘Conservation Convergence’ at CCMV

Everyone is invited to the Farrington Foundation’s Conservation Convergence on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community Center at Mercer View. There will be presentations and inspiring success stories from Washington Water Trust, People for Puget Sound, the Missoula Children’s Theatre, and food. It is an opportunity to learn about these groups, what they do and how you can get involved. The Farrington Foundation’s founder is Liz Sanderson of Mercer Island. Its mission is to promote conservation and foster access, awareness, ethics, training and outdoor values. The foundation works cooperatively with conservation/environmental and land trust groups. To learn more about the Farrington Foundation and listen to interviews, go online to www.friendsoffarrington.org. The community is welcome to attend this event and would appreciate RSVP’s to susann@friendsoffarrington.org. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
