Legislators set school priorities

The Mercer Island School Board met with local legislators Fred Jarrett, Marcie Maxwell and Judy Clibborn last Thursday to discuss educational priorities for 2009.

The top legislative priorities include: tackling unfunded mandates, ensuring basic education and supporting accountability. Important issues for Mercer Island and the Eastside are improving school funding and teacher compensation, as well as reforming the WASL.
