The Rotary Islanders of December are Mercer Island High School seniors Madison Aspiri and Brian Lee.

Aspiri, the daughter of Gary and Mitzi Aspiri, is the captain of the MIHS drill team; a BRIDGES leader; Natural Helper; and a member of the MIHS Key Club, SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) and the softball team. She volunteers at Echo Glen Juvenile Detention Center and Operation Night Watch, and is involved with the National Charity League. She was also a Mission Task Force Member at the Tent City camp. In her spare time, she dances and plays guitar. After graduation, she intends to major in biology or physiology, pursuing a career as a dermatologist or reconstructive plastic surgeon.

Lee, the son of Chong S. and Jong H. Lee, is the vice president of the Math Club at MIHS, where he is also a member of the National Honor Society, the boys’ tennis team and Symphonic Orchestra. He volunteers at Swedish Medical Center at Cherry Hill and is a member of the Judo program at the Boys & Girls Club, where he teaches the sport and helps organize the annual Emerald City Judo Tournament. In his spare time, he mixes techno music. He plans to major in the biological sciences and enter the medical field.
