“Dawn on the Island,” a documentary on the history of Mercer Island, is available in DVD format for purchase at Finder’s and Island Books on Mercer Island.

Filmed by John Gordon Hill in 2004, the documentary was a creative collaboration between the Mercer Island Historical Society and the Mercer Island Community Fund. Proceeds from the DVD sales support both nonprofit groups. The film was formerly sold as a VHS.

The documentary recounts — among its highlights — Mercer Island and the surprising natural and social history of “The Rock.”
