Mercer Island High School students Ziv Feinberg and Julia Schubach have been named the Rotary Islanders of December. Feinberg is the band president of the MIHS band program, a member of the Mercer Island Brass Quintet who was named the 2009 State Outstanding Soloist, and a Natural Helper and Bridges leader. He is also the captain of his Mercer Island Soccer Association team. Refereeing for the Boys & Girls Club and tutoring with Seattle Music Partners are among his community involvements. The son of Ron and Regina Feinberg, he plans to pursue international studies, biology and environmental studies at a four-year college and graduate school.

Schubach runs with the Mercer Island cross country team, took third place in the 2009 3A state doubles playing varsity girls tennis, and is a member of the debate team and Quiz Bowl Club. She volunteers with Gilda’s Club, teaches tennis and has volunteered with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The daughter of William Schubach and Kathleen Keegan, she plans to study architecture or engineering at a four-year liberal arts college or university.
