Fireworks legal on July 4 only

According to city law, setting off fireworks on Mercer Island is allowed only on July 4. In addition, setting off fireworks is restricted to the hours between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Sunday.

The use of fireworks at any other time could result in a $500 ticket.

Mercer Island Kiwanis fireworks will be on sale until July 4 at the North-end Rite Aid parking lot. The organization uses the funds from the sales for its charitable activities.
