‘We like to deliver’ | Community Profile
By KATIE SCHMIDT
WHO HE IS: Kevin Kiteley, USPS mail carrier WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU GET TO WORK: We check our vehicles over, run a safety check and then the magazines come in, routed for our routes, and we sort them for individual people. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR JOB: What I like is being outside. It’s really cool when I get to deliver packages; I feel like Santa. WHAT DON’T PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB: Sometimes, the regulations we work under, I think people don’t understand. We have a policy where we can’t feed dog biscuits to the dogs, for instance. It’s not that we don’t like dogs. WHAT’S SOMETHING FUNNY THAT’S HAPPENED TO YOU AT WORK: There was a customer once who was just not in a very pleasant mood, and she was complaining that there were rats on Mercer Island. She was mad that they would even let rats onto the Island. I thought that was pretty funny. IS THERE SOMETHING YOU WISH YOUR CUSTOMERS WOULD REMEMBER TO DO: I suppose one thing is try to keep your mailboxes clear; don’t park in front. Sometimes, it feels like people do it on purpose. Also, keep mailing. We like to deliver. So keep your comments: We ask that all participants own their words by logging in with their Facebook account.
