2010 Summer Celebration! Junior Art Show winners

The Mercer Island Visual Arts League gave out 63 awards to budding local artists whose work was featured in the Summer Celebration! Junior Art Show.

Franca Martin, a co-chair of the 36-year-old show, said there were about 90 entries this year — about 20 to 30 fewer entries than normal.

Awards are given for painting, drawing, sculpture, craft, photography and digital prints in elementary, middle and high school divisions. There were also 22 special awards given out, which are donated by people and businesses, often in memory of an artist.

This year’s award winners, with some winning multiple categories, were: Parker Schally, Philip Kleemann, Lukas Kleemann, Eliza Crenshaw, Kai Pressy, Bryce Pielage, Sayuj Narayan, Sarah Frederickson, Vivien Guo, Cosmo Neames, Gwen Hildebrandt, Julia Meade, Joshua Park, Dylan Ma, Timothy Malcolm, Allison Froio, Haley Lepp, Kathryn Taylor, Dan Simons, Ryan Tom, Jean Nishida, Timothey Malcham, Rosie Welty, Max Foster, Becky Yorst, Elizabeth Bachman, Kaya Joecks, Julia Meade, Eleanor Hildebrandt, Annelise Giseburt, Joseph Park, Elizabeth Park, Cameron Richardson, Catherine Hoff, Kaitlin Braisfield, Christopher Wang and Ayana Bone.

Honorable mention recipients were: Frederik Kleemann, Joseph Park, Kai Pressy, Bryce Pielage, Kate Spalding, Max Foster, Bailey Lake, Eleanor Hildebrandt, Ryan Tom, Jean Nishida, Dan Simons, Elizabeth Bachman and Becky Yost.

Julie Schuman, the other co-chair of the event, said some artwork went missing over the weekend from outside of the Wells Fargo Bank, where it was left for the artists to pick up after the show.

Anyone who picked it up by mistake can call Schuman at (206) 232-6871.
