Local Bellevue photographer Betty Spann is showing a European photo exhibition, entitled “Beyond” sponsored by Omega Photo in downtown Bellevue through Nov. 15.

Born and raised in Dumas, Texas, Spann high school French teacher awakened a lifelong interest in France and inspired a love of all things French. Many of the photos in the exhibit were taken in France.

In looking for a subject, she sees photographic interest in “photographic subjects everywhere - in the end of a fencepost, an old bicycle, a single flower or a brightly colored door”.

Her Francophile interest comes out in an artistic sense in her photography as she often experiments using intentional movement in order to create an impressionist style photograph. Her goal is to inspire people to wonder about the beyond of the moment and to wonder where the stairs might lead or what may lie behind that door.

Omega Photo is located at 1100 Bellevue Way NE. The store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
