“Cotton Patch Gospel," based loosely on the biblical books of Matthew and John, is a down-home Southern version of the life of Jesus Christ. Presented by Newport Covenant church, the light-hearted script is tender, funny and meaningful while the music is blue-grass at its best.

The script was written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz, with music and lyrics by Harry Chapin who is famous for songs like “Cats in the Cradle”. The production will be presented with a large cast and live band.

The free musical will be performed at 7 p.m. April 29-30 and at 3 p.m. May 1.

“Cotton Patch Gospel" places the characters in Atlanta and the mood of the production is a little bit “Yee Haw” and a lot of heart.

The church is located at 12800 SE Coal Creek Parkway, Bellevue. More information is available by calling the church office at 425-747-0515 or on the church's website.
