Concert to benefit 81-year-old local jazz legend

To celebrate jazz musician and arranger, Bob Hammer, and his more than 60 years in the music industry, Full Circle Jazz ensemble will perform some of Hammer's arrangements from 7:30-9:30 p.m. July 28 at Meydenbauer theater.
Proceeds will go toward 81-year-old Hammer, to help with costs incurred after a recent major surgery.
As a pianist, Hammer has arranged and played for legends such as Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton, and Charles Mingus, who referred to Bob as his, “Beethoven.”
"Bob Hammer is a true artist,” said Ken Wiley, radio host for KPLU's Art of Jazz, who will be a keynote speaker at the event.
In addition to music by Full Circle, audience members will get to see Latin dancers Maureen Munoz and Wladimir Pino Olivares, as well as tap dancer Tim Hickey.
Tickets are $20-$24. The Meydenbauer theater is located at 11100 N.E. 6th St., Bellevue.
