Seattle Opera won't be trilling audiences with Wagner's Ring Cycle until August 9, but ACT has a hootin' n' hollerin' jump on the entertainment with its production of Das Barbecü, which continues through September 6.

Seattle Opera originally commissioned this comic adaptation of Wagner’s Ring Cycle in 1991. Das Barbecü is a lightning-paced musical that grafts Teutonic myth onto Texas twang. Big hair, big hats, and wonderful music, including an infectious ode to guacamole and a tender ditty entitled “Hog Tie Your Man” make the show a blast for opera buffs and anybody who just loves a good time.

Adult tickets start at $37.50 and are available at (206) 292-7676. ACT is located at 700 Union Street, Seattle, www.acttheatre.org.
