Bellevue College Big Band Jazz Festival set Feb. 5-6

The Bellevue College Jazz Band, directed by Northwest jazz legend Hal Sherman, will host the 14th annual Bellevue College Big Band Jazz Festival, featuring 32 Washington and Oregon high school and middle school bands competing for top honors.

Middle school bands compete Friday morning and early afternoon on Feb. 5. High school competition begins Friday at 3 p.m. and continues through 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6.

A concert Saturday evening will feature the top three school bands and the Bellevue College Jazz Band with guest artist Jay Thomas.

Admission to the competition is free, except for the Saturday evening concert, which is $10. Tickets are available at the door. The event will be in the Carlson Theatre at Bellevue College, 3000 Landerholm Circle SE, Bellevue.
