Time for city of Mercer Island, MICA to cease playing cat and mouse | Letter

Giving away a portion of the park for $1 per year is poor judgement on the part of the City Council.

I would like to commend the extraordinary efforts put forth by the Protect Our Parks committee members.

Meg Lippert and Peter Struck, along with various other members of the group, have taken the initiative to attend City Council and Planning/Design meetings at the council chambers.

The time is past due for the City Council and Mercer Island Center for the Arts to cease playing the cat and mouse game with the Protect Our Parks committee and members. Should the green light be given for MICA to build in Mercerdale Park, a good portion of the park will be lost for citizen use.

As you are aware, our property taxes will be skyrocketing soon. Residents who are property owners and/or are on fixed incomes, have no choice in this matter.

Giving away a portion of the park for $1 per year is poor judgement on the part of the City Council. MICA must seek an alternate Island location.
