Mercer Islanders continue dialogue on recent Alabama Senate election.

In response to a recent letter to the editor, Mr. Frorio is correct on “rednecks.” It’s a pejorative term and a bold choice of words. Three indispensable Mercer Island women told me not to use it.

Its antonyms include fair-minded, open-minded, tolerant, unbiased and impartial, which describe the indispensable 98 percent of black Alabama women who voted for Doug Jones. Sixty one percent of Alabama’s white women voted for Roy Moore.

Education: I humbly hold a 50-year-old undergraduate degree in English literature and philosophy. Time to send it back to my alma mater?
