November 16, 2010 · Updated 1:47 PM
The 50th anniversary of the Mercer Island Visual Arts League will be celebrated in style next summer, but right now you can visit their annual holiday show at the Community Center, 8236 S.E. 24th Street, to see art conceived by local artisans.
All types of visual art will be represented, including paintings in watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media and oil; photography, jewelry, textiles, ceramic and glass, according to Nancy Axell, MIVAL board member.
“All types of visual art are represented,” Axell said. “We encourage people to come and buy gifts.”
MIVAL is also holding a silent auction on a few items, with proceeds benefiting high school seniors who are excelling at art.
The show will run through Dec. 17 at the CCMV. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday.
