New look for the Chamber gallery
November 24, 2008 · Updated 6:08 PM
The Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce’s art gallery has a new style. Over the past five years, the MI Chamber gallery exhibited numerous painters from MIVAL and artists associated with MIVAL. The nature of the gallery, however, did not lend itself to the atmosphere of a regular art gallery. Therefore, the Chamber analyzed the situation and decided to move the gallery in a new direction.
Starting Dec. 10, an exhibition of artist Phil Flash’s works, produced by James Stipes, will be open at the MI Chamber, with 38 acrylic paintings representing Flash’s Dynamism theme. These small to medium-size canvases capture today’s high-energy art with a vibrant, active spirit. Bold colors accompany bold strokes that quickly catch the eye. Flash paints demanding landscapes and captures the moment with pertinent titles.
The Chamber hopes the gallery’s new, enlightening art pieces, priced around $100, will draw the attention of the novice collector or street browser. The painting size and bold, colorful presentation make a perfect gift for the holidays. Starting Dec. 10, drop in to catch the different presentation in the new gallery or attend the grand opening 4:30-6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13.
