Get your magic wands ready and paint a lightning bolt on your forehead for Potterfest.

The city Parks and Recreation Department, Mercer Island Library, Island Books and the Mercer Island Reporter are sponsoring the event Friday, July 15, to mark the release of the latest Harry Potter book, ``Half-Blood Prince.''

Potterfest kicks off at 8 p.m. at Mercerdale Park, where the winners of the ``Enchanted Island'' teen writing contest will be announced. Winners in the three age categories will have their stories published in the Reporter.

The movie ``Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'' will be shown outdoors immediately following the announcements.

Head over to Island Books after the movie to reserve your place in line to purchase the ``Half-Blood Prince,'' which will be sold at midnight.
