Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon is at noon on Thursday, June 7 at CCMV. King County Executive Ron Sims will be the speaker. Topics to be discussed include regional transportation issues, the trade of Boeing Field with the city of Seattle, environmental issues, mail-in voting and public safety. Safe ‘n Sounds awareness rock concert for teens is from 7:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 8 at CCMV. Hosted by a group of MIHS students and sponsored by a local State Farm Insurance Company, the purpose is to promote safety for teenagers on the road. Admission is free. Merchandise and concession stands will be available. The bands include: The Mighty Giant, The Sutures, Don't Tell Sophie, and Left at the Castle. Northwest Senior Games are June 8 through June 16. The city of Mercer Island is sponsoring the Pickleball Tournament at CCMV. Other event locations include the Southwest Community Center, High Point Community Center, Peter Kirk Swimming Pool, Enatai Beach Park, Grass Lawn Park, Perrigo Park, and West Seattle Golf Course. Events will include badminton, golf, table tennis, ice hockey, kayaking, tennis, dancing, pickleball, track & field, swimming and softball. Come see what fun they have! All ages are welcome to watch.
