New field of dreams at Mercer Island's Island Crest Park

Last spring baseball games at Island Crest Park were often scheduled on a day-to-day basis. With the grass infield subject to poor conditions in the wet Washington spring, games for the Mercer Island High School baseball team could quickly and often change time and location. That meant a backlog for the other games and programs using the fields.

Local public health officials have learned of a diagnosed case of measles in a contagious traveler who made a stop at Sea-Tac airport on Jan. 18. Measles is a highly contagious and potentially severe disease caused by the measles virus. It is mainly spread through the air after a person with measles coughs or sneezes.

An Albertsons employee witnessed a 35-year-old customer stealing liquor at 10:30 p.m. The suspect’s vehicle, a Ford pickup truck, was located and the suspect was identified.
