Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra to receive grant from Snowman Foundation

Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra is one of 12 Puget Sound-area groups that will receive a grant from funds raised at the sellout “Ten Grands” concert held April 3 at Benaroya Hall. The event, a program of the Snowman Foundation, plus other fund-raising efforts in the past fiscal year have generated nearly $39,000 for direct support of local music programs.
PONCHO fundraiser set for Oct. 3

PONCHO, Seattle's top arts funding organization, will host its major fundraising event of the year on Saturday, October 3 at the Sheraton Seattle.Artworks will be featured from the some of the area's most noted established and emerging artists including such Northwest luminaries as Kenneth Callahan, Dale Chihuly, Dennis Evans, Peter Juvonen, John Franklin Koenig, Nancy Mee and Richard Royal.

The Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery will offer the new works by Hawaiian painter Kim Starr from August 12 to September 6. A Meet the Artist activity will be from 6-9 p.m. on August 12.A native of the northwest, Starr pursued and excelled in a career in professional illustration and advertising in her years immediately after college. In 1981 she and husband moved to the island of Hawaii, where they resided in Holualoa on the west (or Kona) side of the island.
