Similar to the last several years, the Mercer Island School district will not open enrollment to non-resident students for the 2011-2012 school year.

Gary Plano, the superintendent of the district, announced he will not open enrollment on Thursday.

Students who are non-residents, but who currently attend Mercer Island schools will be able to continue their enrollment.

According to the district, as of January, the 2011 enrollment report shows the district's enrollment is ahead of budgeted and projected numbers by 75 full time equivalent (FTE) students.
