Mercer Island and other cities in the region are preparing the annual updates to their six-year transportation improvement plans called the “TIP.” The TIP includes roadway, pedestrian and bicycle projects planned for the six-year period beginning in 2012. The process of updating our plan includes opportunities for the public to provide input on what they would like to see in the updated plan. The public comment period begins on April 1 and runs through the end of the month.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on the draft 2012-2017 TIP on May 16 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public testimony on the draft TIP. Anyone interested may appear and provide input. The TIP is scheduled for adoption by the City Council on June 6, 2011.
Visit the city’s TIP Web site at www.mercergov.org/TIP to learn more about the TIP, view the TIP adopted in 2010 and to submit online comments for consideration in the 2012-2017 TIP.
