The morning commute onto Mercer Island was slowed on Wednesday morning before 9 a.m. as a mother goose and five goslings were spotted crossing the bridge on the shoulder.

Three state patrol vehicles blocked the right westbound lane and followed the six Canada geese, allowing them to cross safely and take the East Mercer Way ramp off the highway.

The WSDOT captured a video of the geese during a routine check on I-90 traffic, according to the WSDOT blog, as traffic engineers were monitoring traffic flow on roadside cameras.
