A fire burned a large fir tree and 75 feet of hedge at a residence in the 7200 block of North Mercer Way, next to the Park on the Lid, on Monday evening, July 4. Three fire department units responded and extinguished the fire, which was caused by fireworks.

Island residents used a garden hose to put out another fire caused by fireworks on July 4, in bark, in a city right-of-way in the 4700 block of 90th Avenue S.E.

According to the fire department, there were no other reports of fires related to fireworks.
