Northbound I-405 will completely close around the clock for 53 hours in Bellevue this weekend as crews move to complete a major milestone on the Bellevue Braids project. Work begins Friday at 11 p.m. When work is complete Monday at 4 a.m., drivers headed out of downtown Bellevue will use new ramps to get to I-405 and SR 520.

This is the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) second attempt to shut down the freeway. Last week Atkinson Construction called off the closure due to forecasted rain. This week, the forecast looks favorable for the closure.

This isn’t just another freeway closure. When new ramps open on Monday morning, Eastside drivers will use new ramps to get to Seattle, Redmond, and Kirkland. This is a significant change for drivers.
