Both West Mercer Elementary and Mercer Island High School were locked down briefly Tuesday, Oct 18 in the afternoon after Mercer Island Police received reports of a suicidal man in the area.

MIPD Commander Leslie Burns said they received a report of a man who was suicidal, with known addresses near both West Mercer and MIHS. Both schools were locked down, until the addresses could be checked.

Burns said the man was not at either home, so the lockdowns were cleared.
